Before doing any work, we will perform a roof condition survey and assessment. Only when we know the roof is ready and able to be restored. We will start the job.
BUR, or Built-Up Asphalt Roofing, is relatively easy to restore. However, when we get to it before it fails, that applies to any roof. We must restore the roof before it fails, and our window of opportunity is closed.
Prepping
- The first thing we need to do is to clear the roof of debris. And power washes the roof at 330 psi. A clean roof is a happy roof.
- Secondly, we will seal any penetrations, transitions, curbs, etc. Using a three-course method to ensure these vulnerable points are watertight
- Next, we will apply the clear coat base coat. We do embed fabric in vulnerable areas. Or the over the entire roof for the 15-year and more No Dollar Limit warranty projects.
- Finally, we apply two, three, or four passes of top coating.
And that is a summary of how we restore a BUR roof.
